1. Mirabel Madrigal – 6th March

Mirabel is the main character of Encanto and the most important one too. She isn’t very tall—she’s only 5’2” (157cm) tall, making her one of the shortest characters in the movie. She’s the leading character of Encanto and one of the most popular recent Disney characters.

Mirabel is 15 years old, and she was born on March 6th. Even though she’s so young, her character is quite complex. She plays a typical 15-year-old main character in Encanto, but since she’s a Madrigal, her life is full of adventure and magic.

While magic occurs all around Mirabel, she was the only family member who wasn’t gifted with magical powers. So, her whole purpose has been to prove herself worthy in the world of Encanto. Even though Mirabel is still an important part of her community, she often feels like an outcast.

Her lack of magic has made her desperate to prove she is a worthy Madrigal. She has always been lowkey, but as she grows up, she slowly realizes that proving herself is the only way to make it to the top.

2. Bruno Madrigal – 17th October

Bruno is one of the Madrigal triplets. The triplets consist of Bruno, Julieta, and Pepa. Bruno is shorter compared to his siblings and only stands at 5’4” (162.6cm) tall. He was born on October 17th (just like his triplet sisters). Bruno is 50 years old, but he looks quite young for his age.

One reason for his youthful looks may be his magical powers. We’re not sure, because Bruno is quite mysterious. He is so suspicious in Encanto that there’s a whole song dedicated to him to keep him out of the conversations. In fact, “We Don’t Talk About Bruno” was one of the most successful songs in Encanto.

Bruno is special because he can see prophecies and predict future events. He can predict bad events, and that is exactly why the Madrigals don’t like to talk about him. Due to his magic power, he is considered a villain by the Madrigals. But in reality, he is pure of heart and only wants the best for everyone.

Bruno also predicted that Mirabel wouldn’t receive her magical gift at the age of 5. After that, he left the house because he was afraid of causing more harm to his family. But in reality, he had been living in the Madrigal house in secret all that time (about 10 years). He was only found when Mirabel went searching for answers.

3. Alma Madrigal

Alma is the oldest member of the Madrigal family. She is roughly 75 years old. Alma is also the head of the Madrigal family. Being the oldest person in this magical family, Alma has the most authority in Encanto. In fact, she was the one who created it. Despite her power, Alma isn’t very tall. Her height is around 5’5” (165.5cm).

Pepa and Julieta are more empathetic characters, while Alma is authoritative and dominant in the sense that she would do anything to protect the family. She shows no sympathy for the Madrigals’ enemies.

This is why Alma is emotionally detached—and why all the family members are somewhat afraid of her presence. Her tough love also affects Mirabel, who is afraid of her.

The rest of the Madrigal family understands that Alma is the best person to lead their family. Her authoritative abilities and magical powers are enough to shake the whole world.

She puts pressure on the family members to keep them strong. But the dark side of all this pressure is an air of stress that negatively affects everyone.

4. Julieta Madrigal – 17th October

One of the Madrigal triplets, Julieta is an important character in Encanto. She is not as tall as Pepa, but she is taller than Bruno at 5’5” (165.1cm). Julieta is also a bit chubbier than her siblings, but there’s a good reason for that. She has the magical ability to heal others with food. Julieta was born on 17th October, and she is 50 years old just like her two siblings.

The interesting thing about the Madrigals is that their gifts reflect their personalities. The fact that Julieta can heal people reflects her compassion, kindness, and empathy. She cares about everyone so much—and this sometimes backfires on her.

Julieta acts as a motherly figure to Mirabel and the whole Encanto community. She’s also a great listener, making her a very important character.

5. Pepa Madrigal – 17th October

The tallest Madrigal triplet, Pepa, is around 5’7” (170.2cm). She has the same birthday as Bruno and Julieta on October 17th. She is quite a bit taller than her siblings, and that’s not the only way she stands out in a crowd.

Her siblings Bruno and Julieta are both mentally stable—and therefore bring stability to Encanto. On the contrary, Pepa is emotionally unstable, and because she’s also magical, that can have serious consequences. Her superpower is that her mood controls the weather. If she’s crying, it will rain. If she’s happy, it’ll be sunny. The weather in Encanto depends upon Pepa, which makes her a very interesting character.

Pepa always tries to remain happy and calm, but it isn’t always easy, as she is an emotional character. To make things more complicated, Pepa is a mother of 3. She tries her best to keep her family happy but in the end, she gets exhausted. One lesson Pepa teaches viewers is that it’s impossible to be happy all the time.

Compared to the rest of the Madrigals, she is a bit vulnerable and sensitive. The whole family helps her keep her emotions in check. Nobody wants to know what will happen if she loses her cool!

6. Isabela Madrigal – 7th August

Isabela is the oldest grandchild of the Madrigal family. She is 21 years old, and she was born on the 7th of August. She is also one of the shortest Madrigals, standing at just 5’3” (160cm). Her fiance Mariano is considerably taller than her, but they do look cute together.

It may seem like Isabela has the perfect princess life, but she carries a lot of burdens. As she is the oldest grandchild, the Madrigal legacy rests on her shoulders.

She is quite feminine, and her powers match that aspect of her personality. Isabela can control flowers with her powers, which makes her one of the most beautiful characters. Isabela acts reserved when in public, but that’s only because of the burden she carries. She also has a wild side to her that she only shows to Mirabel.

In reality, Isabela is edgier than one would expect her to be and she loves to have fun. Her wild side causes a lot of trouble for Mirabel, but in the end, her heart is in the right place. 

7. Luisa Madrigal – 14th November

The third oldest Madrigal granddaughter, Luisa is the second oldest daughter of Julieta and Agustin. Her appearance relates to her powers, as she is super-sized and super-strong.

She is the tallest character in Encanto at 6’5” (195.6cm) and she is also the most muscular despite being so young. Luisa is just 19 years old, but she is the biggest and strongest character we have seen yet.

Luisa might be a bit scary to look at, but she has a heart of gold. She does everything she can to help the weak. She looks after her family and uses her strength to help the community in any way possible.

While Luisa is physically strong, she doesn’t have the self-esteem to back it up. In fact, Luisa lacks self-confidence. All in all, Luisa is a kind girl and a protector of the Encanto community.

8. Agustín Madrigal – 19th June

Augustín Madrigal is tall, but not as tall as Luisa. He stands at 5’10” (177.8cm). Even though he is the youngest Madrigal parent at 48 years old, he is still 2 years younger than Julieta, who is his wife. He is the father of Luisa and Mirabel.

Since Agustin is not a true Madrigal (he just married into this family), he wasn’t gifted any magical powers. He is a regular human being who works and provides for his family. Agustin is also quite understanding and would do anything for his family.

He supports the whole Madrigal family’s magical drama and tries to help them whenever possible. Augustin’s youngest daughter is Mirabel, who is the main character. Just like her father, she doesn’t have any magical abilities.

Mirabel was close to Agustin because neither could relate to the magical Madrigals. Agustin is always there to love, support, and provide for his youngest daughter, making sure that she has the drive to fight on.

9. Félix Madrigal – 11th November

Felix might seem like the tallest and the strongest character, but that is mainly because of his personality. In reality, he is quite short at 5’5” (165.1cm).

Felix is the husband of Pepa, and he is around 52 years old, making him the oldest character after Alma. Just like Agustin, Felix is not blessed with any magical powers since he married into the Madrigal family.

But this makes him no less of a Madrigal since he is loved by everyone in the family. Felix is also the one person who can tame Pepa’s emotional side and make sure that she doesn’t experience any extreme emotions, keeping Encanto safe from dangerous weather.

Even though Felix is one of the oldest characters, he still acts young. His youthful personality makes him a perfect fit in the Madrigal family. His kind personality makes stressful moments lighter for everyone. In other words, Felix acts as a bridge and makes the family less stressed.

10. Dolores Madrigal – 31st August

Dolores is the oldest child of Pepa and Felix. At 21 years old, she is just a few weeks younger than Isabela. She’s a petite girl and one of the most beautiful Madrigals.

She is slim and stands at 5’5” (165.1cm). She is the same height as her father but looks like her mother. Dolores has a very different relationship with her siblings. She is quite mature and has to speak quietly because of her magic abilities.

Dolores has a super-hearing ability, which causes a lot of problems because she hears everyone’s secrets. In fact, Dolores knows every secret and she could expose anyone—if she wanted to. Luckily, she’s not much of a gossip and she doesn’t let on that she knows as much as she does. She takes her magic seriously and doesn’t use it to cause conflicts.

11. Camilo Madrigal – 28th December

Camilo is 5’4” (162.6cm) in his original state. The reason I said the original state is because Camilo has a shapeshifting ability that allows him to change into anyone. He is the same age as Mirabel (both of them are 15). However, Camilo’s personality is more childlike—he looks like a naughty little boy.

Like all other teen boys, Camilo wants to find out who he is and what place he will have in the Encanto community. However, he is confused because he hasn’t found his place just yet.

Camilo can shapeshift into anyone from the Encanto community, which makes it hard for him to focus on his own personality. This makes him confused about his true self—even more than the average teenager!

Camilo jokes and plays pranks to cope with stress, and he is rarely serious when he’s talking to other people. But inside, he is enraged and confused about his life and his purpose in the Encanto community.

Still, Camilo is quite pure and never has bad intentions for anyone in the world of Encanto.

12. Antonio Madrigal – 21st May

Antonio is the youngest son of Felix and Pepa. He is only 5 years old making him the youngest child in the Madrigal family. He is quite short at 3’10” (116.8cm). However, being just 5, he is surely considered a bit taller than other kids his age.

Antonio has one of the most interesting abilities in the whole Madrigal family. He is able to talk with animals. His personality suits his ability, as he loves animals and is always found around some toy animal or pet.

Antonio’s nature is kind and empathetic. Even as a young child, he’s able to communicate with Mirabel and understand her problems. He might be the youngest kid in the Madrigal family but he is quite smart.

At a young age, Antonio uses his gift to the fullest. Once he grows up, has the potential to become the leader of the Madrigals because of his kind but also understanding personality.

13. Pedro Madrigal

Pedro is of the most mysterious characters in Encanto. He is featured in the paintings and flashbacks, and he is the epitome of a caring and loving human being. Fans guess that he is around 5’8” (172.7cm) tall. However, it wasn’t officially revealed—nor was his actual birth date.

Pedro was only 26 when he was murdered while protecting his family. He might only appear in a few scenes, but those few scenes were enough of an indicator of how important Pedro was.

His courage alone saved Encanto from all sorts of evil, and his sacrifice became the foundation of the Madrigal family to be stronger and better than it ever was. After everyone was forced to flee from their homes, Pedro sacrificed himself so they could escape.

After his sacrifice, Encanto was born, and it provided a safe place for the community to live and thrive in peace. Pedro’s story is a tragic one, but it was a proud victory for all the Madrigals.

14. Mariano Guzmán

Mariano might be the most muscular person after Luisa. He is the Fiancé of Isabela and stands tall at 5’8” (172.7cm). His wide stature makes him look as if he could compete in a bodybuilding competition. Mariano is only 22 years old, which makes him one year older than Isabela. That is quite a surprise since many fans thought he was middle-aged.

Mariano has a big heart and is as kind as any of the Madrigals. He loves Isabela, and even though he got his heart broken by her, he respects her and moves on (by flirting with Dolores!).

All in all, even though Mariano isn’t the most important figure in Encanto, he is still a kind person who doesn’t let negative things get in the way of his quest for love.

15. Señora Guzmán

Señora Guzmán is Mariano’s mother, and she is around Alma’s age at 75 years old. We don’t know her official age, but based on her gray hair and the age of Mariano, it makes sense that Señora is around Alma’s age. She is also the same height as Alma at 5’5” (165.1cm). Being the head of the Guzman family, she wants to get Alma’s attention so that she can have Isabela and Mariano married fast. This is mostly because Mariano is head over heels for Isabela!

She was quite excited when Alma agreed that their marriage would be good for Encanto and that their children would make a good match

However, when we compare Señora with Alma, their personalities are the exact opposite. Señora Guzmán is nowhere near as competitive as Alma and is shown to be more assertive than dominant.

This could be because she is a conservative woman and believes that deep down, women aren’t cut out for leadership roles. Alma is more about leading, keeping her family strong, and making sure that no one gets hurt.

16. Osvaldo

Osvaldo is another tall character at roughly 5’10” (177.8cm). His overall stature makes him look like he’s big, and that’s the main reason why most people think he is the tallest character in Encanto.

His exact age is unknown, but fans think he is in his 40s from the looks of his fashion and from his overall personality. Osvaldo played a small part in Encanto and wasn’t the most exciting or important character. However, he was still shown to be full of life, kind, and somewhat intriguing.

Osvaldo doesn’t think before he speaks, making him look more spontaneous than he is. He also doesn’t think things through before doing them, as was seen when he bought a gift basket for Mirable even though he knew that she didn’t have any magical powers or magical gifts.

17. Juancho

Juancho is one of the three Encanto town kids. He is also the most energetic and enthusiastic. He bounces around a lot and it is hard to track down. This also makes it difficult to know how tall he is. When we compare him to other short characters, Juancho might be around 3’8.5” (113 cm) tall. He is around 6 years old.

Juancho might not be the most popular character from Encanto, and he is not a member of the Madrigal family. But he adds fun to the story when it’s needed. His joyous personality makes the whole movie seem funnier and more exciting to watch.

The interesting part about Juancho is that he is always full of caffeine. He loves to drink milk with coffee and other caffeinated drinks. This is why he is always hyperactive and looks like he can bring down houses by the sheer force of his movement. Juancho’s love for caffeine is a running joke throughout the movie.

18. Alejandra

Alejandra is the tallest of the little kids in town at 3’9” (114.3cm). But she is still a bit smaller than Antonio for her age. Alejandra is roughly 6 years old. While this isn’t confirmed, we can guess pretty accurately based on the ways she acts and talks—and by her height. She is just as hyperactive and strong as her other siblings.

Alejandra is a troublemaker, and she’s always asking difficult questions to adults. This often makes them uncomfortable and sometimes angry. This can be seen when she asked personal questions to Mirabel about the secrets of the Madrigal family. Overall, Alejandra is a good girl—even if she makes trouble.

19. Cecilia

Cecilia is roughly 3’8” and is considered to be the shortest kid in Encanto. This is easy to see if we compare her size to Antonio, who is the tallest kid in town in their age group. She is roughly 6 years of age just like the other small kids. But she is quieter than others, which might relate to her being the smallest.

Like other kids, she is also quite curious to know all the secrets about the Madrigal family, but she isn’t upfront like Alejandra. Cecilia is kinder than both Alejandra and Juancho and this can be seen when she told them that they were rude for asking Mirabel so many personal questions about her family.

Encanto and the Magical Madrigals

Encanto certainly has the largest and most interesting cast of any recent movie. Each character has a unique body type, birthday, and personality—and we can’t forget about all of their magical powers. Each trait of each character has an impact on the story, making this movie rewardingly complex and rewatchable. Disney did an amazing job making a movie with so many diverse characters.

Mirabel is the main character, and she has always considered herself talentless because of her lack of Madrigal magical gifts. But the story doesn’t stop there. She did all she could to prove the world wrong and that her gifts are far superior to any magic. In the end, she showed the entire town of Encanto that love itself can surpass the power of magic.
