Eren Yeager

The events that transpired from season 1 to season 3 all happened in 850 B1 when Eren was only 15 years old. He is a proper shonen protagonist who acted like a shonen (boy) for once, a hot-tempered teenager who didn’t think much before acting. You can’t blame him, though – he saw his mother get eaten by a Titan. After that, he became thirsty for blood – Titan blood, to be exact.

Season 4 takes place 4 years after season 3 in 854 B1. In the new season, we see a changed Eren, now 19 years old and much more rational and cold-blooded. He’s now willing to do anything to achieve his goal, even if it means turning the whole world – including his friends – into his enemies. Eren is a character who perhaps received one of the most intense character developments of all time.

Mikasa Ackerman

The poster girl of the series is beautiful and strong. Just like Eren, Mikasa was 15 from season 1 to season 3, though she looks much older thanks to her stoic personality. She often acts more mature than adults, even. The only person who can get a response out of her is Eren. The love she has for him is so intense that she entered the Survey Corps for the sake of protecting him.

Her affection for him persists even in season 4, where Eren has turned into an enemy. Despite his intensified mentality, she maintains faith that he will return to his old self and change his mind about his plans. Mikasa is the same age as Eren, which means she too is 19 years old in season 4.

Armin Arlert

The first time anyone sees Armin, they’ll surely mistake his gender. He looks like a girl and sounds like one too, as his voice is performed by a female actress. He makes up the childhood friend trio together with Eren and Mikasa, which means he is the same age as the two at 15 from season 1 to season 3 and 19 in season 4.

Contrary to his looks, Armin is very intelligent and Eren trusts him enough to follow his plans to a tee. Initially timid, Armin becomes bold and more aggressive as the series progresses.

Levi Ackerman

Levi may be short and look younger than most characters, but he is older than his face lets on. The creator of the series, Hajime Isayama, confirmed that Levi was in his early 30s in the first three seasons and late 30s in season 4.

Given how effortlessly he defeats Titans, Levi deserves the moniker of humanity’s strongest soldier. He even defeated the Beast Titan, who was more powerful than most other titans, including the Armored Titan. Unsurprisingly, Levi is the most popular character in Attack on Titan. He won first place in the first, second, and fourth popularity polls.

Bertolt Hoover

Bertolt was a senior to Eren and is older than him by two years, making him 17 throughout the first three seasons. He is 21 in season 4. When Bertolt first appeared, he looked like a kindred spirit to Armin. He didn’t talk much, was almost timid, and seemed like a guy who goes with the flow. Shockingly, it turns out that Bertolt was the Colossus Titan — the main culprit behind the breach of Wall Maria.

Hange Zoë

Hange is one of the senior members of the Corps alongside Levi. The two are close in age as well, which means they are in their 30s for most of the series. Hange is often seen as eccentric because they are obsessed with the Titans. After becoming the leader of the Corps, they become more responsible while still retaining part of their eccentricity.

Here’s an interesting fact about Hange. Isayama purposely kept Hange’s gender ambiguous in the manga, but the anime depicts them with feminine features.

Historia Reiss

Most Survey Corps members have a crush on Historia, most notably Reiner. She is an adorable lady who is often praised for her looks and emotional resilience. Like Eren and his friends, Historia was 15 years old at the beginning of the series and turns 19 in season 4. She becomes the Queen of the Walls at a young age but makes great efforts to become worthy of the role.

Erwin Smith

Erwin was the leader of the Survey Corps by the time Eren and the main casts joined the 104th Training Corps. He was a reliable leader who never wavered in dire situations, inspiring the members to follow him unconditionally. Unfortunately, he dies in season 3, but his legacy is inherited by Hange. Erwin was one of the oldest members of the group and was in his late 30s at the time of his death.

Sasha Braus

Each Attack on Titan character has their quirks, but Sasha tops them all. She was always chewing on something whenever on-screen. Her eccentricity, jovial personality, and sense of humor brought a refreshing air to the dark and gloomy series. As a fan-favorite character, her death in season 4 hit especially hard. She falls in the same age group as Eren, making her 15 and 19 years old in season 1 and season 4, respectively.

Connie Springer

Connie often plays the comedy man of the series. He joined the 104th Training Corps at the same time as our main cast, making him 15 years old from season 1 to season 3. He is visibly older after the four-year time skip in season 4 when he turns 19. Although Connie’s age increased his seriousness and maturity, he still plays his part as the comedy relief.

Jean Kirschtein

Jean is the guy Eren often butt heads with at the beginning of the series. He was a 15-year-old hothead from most of season 1 to season 3. Sounds similar to a certain someone, right? Due to their shared traits, Jean and Eren hated each other’s guts.

As the story progresses, they come to trust each other, though still bicker frequently. Jean was visibly shaken upon seeing Eren’s changes in season 4. He too was 19 years old during the events of the final season.

Reiner Braun

Reiner was 17 years old during season 1. He had a selfless and caring personality, willing to take risks for his comrades. Initially, Eren looked up to Reiner as an older brother figure to confide in. This soon turns into hatred once he learns that Reiner is the Armored Titan. We see him again in season 4 as a soldier of Marley’s. He is 21 years old but looks even older because of his haggard appearance.

Zeke Yeager

When Zeke, Eren’s older half-brother, first appeared in season 2, everyone thought he was a middle-aged man. He had a full beard that made him look older than he really was at just 25. In 854 B1, Zeke is 29. He and Eren started out as enemies but became allies in the final season.

Ymir

Ymir is a ferocious girl with a blunt personality who is not afraid to speak her mind. However, on the inside, she is an emotional and caring person. Despite her teenage appearance, Ymir is over 75 years old, making her the oldest in the group by far. She became a Titan when she was young and stopped aging physically. Ymir and Historia were very close to each other.

Kennedy Ackerman

Kennedy, nicknamed Kenny, was first introduced in season 3 and looked to be in his mid-40s. He had an ambition for power and did not hesitate to kill children or betray allies for the sake of his goal. Just before dying, Kenny revealed to Levi that he was an Ackerman and his uncle. He was an exceptional combatant and the only person Levi had a difficult time defeating.

Annie Leonhart

The term “cool beauty” describes Annie well. She always wore an expressionless face and had a realistic view of the world. Annie and Mikasa are the two most mature members of the 104th Trainee Corps, and she is one of the few who could go toe-to-toe with Mikasa in a spar.

After being revealed as the Female Titan and subsequently defeated, she freezes herself in a crystal prison to avoid getting caught. Annie was 16 years old at the time. In season 4, she is no longer frozen and is 20 years old.

Marco Bodt

Marco was a kindhearted young man who sought to help others in the group, often serving as the voice of reason. Although Marco was a minor character without much significance, his death cemented Eren’s hatred for Titans further. He was 16 years old at the time of his introduction and dies at that age as well.

Floch Forster

Floch is from the same 104th Training Corps, which makes him 15 years old during the first three seasons. For most of the series, he was an irrelevant character with a cowardly mindset. In season 4, we see a different Flosch. As the de facto leader of the Yeagerists, he carries himself with confidence and calmness. He is 19 years old in the final season.

Miche Zacharius

Miche was the strongest human soldier before Levi came onto the scene. Although he could effortlessly take on multiple normal Titans at the same time, his real strength lay elsewhere. Miche had a keen nose that could detect Titans from afar, making him the ideal scout. He was in his early 40s in season 1.

As a senior member, Miche always took the lead in combat. His calm and serious demeanor saved Levi and others many times. Unfortunately, he is killed by the Beast Titan at the start of season 2.

Moblit Berner

If there were a competition for the ideal secretary in anime, Moblit would be a prime candidate. Intelligent and responsible, he was the vice commander of Hange who kept his eccentric boss in check.

Moblit was in his early 30s when he died protecting Hange from the explosion of Bertolt’s transformation. Fans often ship them together because of his loyalty.

Petra Rall

The ratio of male-to-female characters in the show has always tilted to the former. Petra was one of the few refreshing female characters to watch. Kind and empathetic, she was the one who took care of Eren when he first joined the Corps. Sadly, Petra is killed by the Female Titan in season 1. She was in her early 20s at that time. Her death is one of the few times when we see Levi distraught.

Dot Pixis

While you can’t judge how old an Attack on Titan character is based on their appearance, that rule doesn’t seem to apply to Pixis. His face was full of wrinkles and he had a grey mustache that accurately indicated he was in his late 40s. He died in his early 50s when Armin killed him after he was turned into a mindless Pure Titan.

Gabi Braun

Gabi is one of the new characters to be introduced in season 4. She is a 12-year-old Eldian who left quite the impression on fans for all the wrong reasons. She killed Sasha, a fan favorite. When you murder one of the best girls in cold blood, it’s obvious you’ll be hated. Her headstrong and rebellious personality also makes her difficult to like.

Porco Galliard

Porco briefly appeared in season 3 as the Jaw Titan and was properly introduced in season 4. Porco was seen as an arrogant, brash, and rude person. He was especially aggressive toward Reiner, whom he believed sabotaged and took the Armored Titan from him.

Despite his bad attitude, Porco truly cared about his comrades. He was willing to take bullets just to protect Gabi and Falco. He is the same age as Eren, which makes him 19 in season 4.

Pieck Finger

Pieck is a prominent character in season 4 who inherited the Cart Titan. Although she may not smile much, Pieck is a sweetheart who cares about her fellow warriors’ well-being and trusts them very much. Her Titan form is small, but she makes up for it with her incredible intelligence and resourcefulness. Pieck is 21 years old in season 4 and 17 in seasons 1 through 3.

Colt Grice

Colt is a minor character in season 4 who dies early in the story at 17. Colt was well-known for his irresponsible behavior and love of alcohol. However, he could show courage when it was needed. For instance, when his brother Falco was wounded and under enemy fire, he risked his life to save him. Makes you think about what would’ve happened if he lived.

Falco Grice

Falco is the same age as his friend Gabi at 12 years old, but he has the opposite personality. He doesn’t like fighting and is somewhat timid. This doesn’t mean he’s a coward: he once dove under enemy fire to save Gabi. Falco also proves to be kinder than most of his comrades when he tries to help an injured enemy soldier.

Lara Tybur

Lara is a minor character first introduced in season 4. Although her role was small, her death had a major impact on the story. Eren inherited the War Hammer Titan power after devouring her, which set season 4’s events in motion. As a member of the Tybur family, Lara was of noble status. When her brother died in front of her, she didn’t lose her calm and thanked him for everything he had done.

Frieda Reiss

The last royalty to inherit the Founding Titan was Fried, a kind girl who didn’t discriminate despite being a noble. She cried during the ceremony to inherit the Founding Titan, where she was forced to eat her uncle, Later, Grisha Yeager devoured Frieda to end the royal bloodline and pass the Founding Titan to Eren. She was 18 years old during this event.
