Naruto has never been the most predictable story – and that’s one of the things that makes it so great!
Unfortunately, that does mean none of our favorite characters are safe. Hinata is no exception despite being a major character. There are a ton of theories about how she may meet her end, but we suspect that her fate is sealed in Boruto. Spoiler alert: she’ll likely die while protecting her family during the destruction of Konoha.
And for those of you scratching your heads, wondering why the heck we think Hinata dies in Boruto, we’ve got you covered. We’ll break it down for you so even a chunin-level ninja could understand. So sit back, relax, and get ready to have your mind blown (and your heart shattered).

Is Hinata dead?
In the world of anime, no one is guaranteed to survive a series, not even cute and kind-hearted characters like Hinata. She and Naruto disappeared, so while her death isn’t confirmed, that doesn’t mean it isn’t possible – or likely.
The writers of Boruto are known for their love of pain and misery, which is why they might decide to off beloved characters like Hinata, Sasuke, or Kakashi. What’s a good anime without a little emotional trauma?
If they do decide to kill off Hinata, it’s gonna be a real tear-jerker. She’s got a deep bond with her son Boruto, she’s the love of Naruto’s life, and let’s not forget, she’s cute as a button. If someone like Kawaki were to take her out, you can bet it would cause some serious drama.
Some of you might be thinking, “Wait, didn’t Pain kill Hinata in Naruto?” Well, yes and no. Hinata was stabbed by Pain, but she wasn’t dead-dead. She was just mostly dead. Luckily, Sakura was there to work her medical ninja magic and save Hinata’s life.
If she hadn’t been around, Hinata would’ve been a goner. And that would’ve been a real shame because we all love Hinata. Even Naruto finally figured out that she’s the one for him – and it only took him, like, eight seasons.

How might Hinata die?
The fans have been buzzing with theories left and right about this! Some say she’ll sacrifice herself while defending Boruto during Naruto’s absence, while others are convinced that Boruto’s Jougan is really her Byakugan, transplanted after her death.
Since the Boruto anime is still in its early stages, no one knows for sure – but that’s not going to keep fans from making their predictions.
Speaking of Boruto, it seems like the creators are setting up for a showdown between him and Kawaki, who’s currently living with him and Naruto. Naruto’s juggling teaching Kawaki and doing everyday chores, but what does this all have to do with Hinata, you ask?
According to the forecast, Hinata could be in the village when Konoha gets completely destroyed, and she’ll do everything in her power to defend Naruto and Boruto. But this time, she might not make it out alive.
It’s all just speculation, but with the way Naruto’s story goes, it wouldn’t be surprising if a beloved character met their untimely demise. And apparently, Hinata’s Byakugan will end up in Boruto’s possession.
At the end of the day, conflict and consequences are what make a good story, and sometimes, that means saying goodbye to certain characters. Don’t say we didn’t warn you!
How did Pain kill Hinata?
Well, he didn’t – but he came frighteningly close! While he didn’t quite succeed in killing her, he did give her a good beating with his Universal Push.
In Naruto: Shippuden episode 166, Hinata was knocked unconscious by the attack, but thankfully Sakura came to the rescue with her medicinal Jutsu. Otherwise, she probably wouldn’t have lived to see the sequel series.
You might say Hinata got lucky that Nagato was so distracted by Naruto that he missed his mark when he stabbed her. In the manga version, he aimed for a more critical spot, but missed; in the anime, he was all muddy and unfocused, so he just hit her wherever.
As it turns out, not just our heroes have weaknesses. Even the most powerful of foes, such as Pain, slip up sometimes. And we’re grateful for it! Since the wound wasn’t fatal, Sakura was able to successfully heal her.
As a result, Hinata’s currently alive and well in the Boruto series as far as we know. However, according to the forecast, she’ll die later on while protecting her kids when Naruto’s away. Let’s hope she doesn’t run into any more “Pains” along the way!

Is Hinata Actually Dead?
Ah, the burning question that’s been keeping anime fans up at night: Is Hinata actually dead? It’s almost like a game of Clue, but instead of Colonel Mustard with the candlestick, we have Boruto with the Jougan – the thing that’s got all the fans talking!
Hinata, the former Hyuga clan heiress, was disowned by her own father since he didn’t think she was fit to be a ninja. But did she let that stop her? No way! She persisted and became a kunoichi, a ninja in her own right. Her dad couldn’t have been more wrong about her!
Her Byakugan gave her penetrative vision in a nearly 360° circle around herself. Not only did she it to aid her team with their daily monitoring duties, but she could also see up to 20 kilometers away. Plus, her Byakugan even had infrared vision. Not just any ninja can do that!
Now, let’s talk about Boruto, her son and the star of the spin-off show. He has a scar above his left eye in episode one. How did he get it? We don’t know for sure, but he must have gone through some dangerous and secret training, similar to how Naruto trained with Pervy Sage. Or maybe he just tripped and fell.
But here’s the kicker: Boruto doesn’t have the Byakugan, even though it runs in his family. So, if he didn’t get it from his mom, Hinata, who else could have given it to him? His sister, Himawari, or his aunts, Hanabi and Hiashi? None of them were likely to have been there when he lost his eye, though.
Let’s talk about why we’re so convinced Hinata’s going to meet her end in Boruto. It’s been stated that she’ll be in the village when Konoha is absolutely destroyed, so she’s going to defend her family no matter what – just like she did against Pain. But this time, both she and Naruto may not make it out alive.
As for Boruto, he was seen with a cut on his right eye and a Byakugan. It’s safe to assume that the Byakugan belonged to Hinata. So, is she dead? We’ll leave that up to you to decide.
But let’s not forget the real question here. Will Boruto surpass the original Naruto series? Only time will tell. But with some unforgettable stories and stellar animation, we might just have a winner on our hands.
So, there you have it: a breakdown of the burning question of the day. Is Hinata actually dead? One thing’s for certain – if she does die, she’ll go out in a blaze of ninja glory.
